Welcome to the homepage of the Symposium for Seventeeth-Century Scottish Literatures. The symposium is organised by a group of Scottish Literature Postgraduate researchers at the University of Glasgow whose work focuses on a diverse range of authors and texts from this complex century.
Although the seventeenth century has been “curiously neglected” (Bawcutt 2005), it has in recent years benefitted from increased scholarly attention. Our aim is to reflect on and celebrate the shape of the field today.
Our first symposium was held entirely online in February 2021, and our next event will be held 27th–29th April 2022.
